Live Search Feed in Google – Has Google gone Twitter Insane?

Live Search Feed in Google SERP's

Google have just introduced live search feed on its search results pages. See below a screen shot of an example of a Live Feed in the SERPs. I have just recently searched for search term "Tiger Woods" and came across this weird looking SERPs. It's insane. Google are taking 'having the latest content' (garbage) a little TOO seriously, maybe? Google show real time live feeds from Twitter (and other sources such as News, Facebook, MySpace, Blogs +More).

The Online world is currently super tweeting just to increase their online brand awareness and get some easy traffic.

How are people using it to get instant traffic?

  1. Find a popular Keyword that will display a live search feed (visit Googles Trend pages and see whats hot)
  2. Tweet on Twitter using the popular keyword and put your link on it! it will show up on Google SERP's live feed.

Please leave your comments and me know what you think of new twitter live feed on Google.

  1. I don’t think Google has gone insane, this may actually be a good idea! So many people are using Twitter as a social media and news outlet, there’s no way it could hurt…

  2. I mean do you really believe Google have thought this through? or have they just jumped on being the first to do so, with Bing having caught some attention for challenging Google.

From an SEO perspective, do the whole world really want to see what Joe Bloggs x 100 are saying about their search queries, isn’t it just taking away search engine real estate from the pages that are there because they actually have quality, relevant and valuable content that the searcher may want. Also SEO’s would be further disappointed in loosing SERP real estate after working really hard to gain high search engine rankings.

From a branding perspective, all major companies will employ a full time team just to protect there brand reputation. Not to mention the amount of competitors who may use it to intentionally post negative messages pointing to their competitors products/ services.

From a PPC perspective, the live feed will have an impact on people clicking through to PPC ads, if the searcher reads a couple of negative live feeds. Also wouldn’t the live feed which keeps moving get more attention and drive away from clicking on a PPC ad?

Overall its brilliant, if Google can some how filter the noise and spam, but still deliver in actual real time relevant content and not 10 hours delay like that is currently happening. I think, due to feeding live social messages its going to be absolutely impossible to police and filter in genuine messages and filter out spam.

  3. I want to thank the blogger very much not only for this post but also for his all previous efforts. I found http://www.flamexdesign.com to be very interesting. I will be coming back to http://www.flamexdesign.com for more information.
